Jazz Vespers, an alternative and informal worship service, is offered five times a year on Sundays at 4pm, featuring local and out of town professional musicians. This wonderful service began at St. James in 2015. It is led by the Rector and assisting clergy. The Vespers is about an hour in length. The musicians are invited to play whatever they feel called to share. It also includes a reading, reflection, prayers, and concludes with a congregational hymn with improvisations. We have welcomed a Dixieland Band, a jazz tap dancer, several solo pianists, and outstanding trios and quartets. Sponsorship support comes from the parish and community members.
