ORDINATIONS

The Reverend Jamie Baxter, the Reverend John-Paul Markides and the Reverend Allie McDougall were ordained to the diaconate on Sunday, October 23 at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul.

INDUCTIONS

On behalf of Bishop Townshend, the Venerable Jane Humphreys will induct the Reverend Lisa Poultney as the rector of Christ Church, Amherstburg at 3pm on the First Sunday of Advent, November 27.

The preacher will be the Reverend Andreas Thiel.  Clergy are invited to vest, the colour being blue.

On behalf of Bishop Townshend, the Venerable Jane Humphreys will induct the Reverend Kim Myer as the rector of St. John the Evangelist, Leamington at 3pm on Sunday, November 13. The preacher will be the Rev. Deb Wilson-Safa. 

Clergy are invited to vest, the colour being green.  All are welcome to stay for light refreshments following the service.

INTERIM APPOINTMENTS

Bishop Townshend appoints the following as interim clergy:

  • The Venerable Nancy Adams: St. James’, St. Marys effective October 6, 2022.
  • The Reverend Paul Woolley: Christ Church,  Forest effective November 1, 2022
  • The Reverend David Hewett: Christ Church, Petrolia effective November 1, 2022
  • The Reverend Pat Bryne: St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London effective November 1, 2022
  • The Reverend Bill Strang: Holy Trinity-St. Paul’s, Chatham effective November 1, 2022
  • The Reverend Kathrine Loynd and the Venerable Rich Jones: Christ Church, Huntingford effective November 1, 2022

DECONSECRATIONS

On behalf of Bishop Townshend, the Right Reverend Robert Bennet will deconsecrate the Church of the Redeemer, Highgate at a service to be held on Sunday, November 13 at 4pm.  Clergy are invited to vest, the colour being green. 

On behalf of Bishop Townshend, the Right Reverend Terry Dance will deconsecrate St. Stephen, Thamesville at a service to be held on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27 at 7pm.  Clergy are invited to vest, the colour being purple.     

RETIREMENTS

Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Reverend Jenny Sharp to retire effective December 31, 2022. 

Jenny was ordained a deacon in May 2008 and priested in March of 2009.  She served the parishes of Church of the Ascension, London, Christ Church, Camlachie and St. John-in-the-Wilderness, Brights Grove before moving to the Diocese of Nova Scotia and PEI.  In 2017, Jenny returned to the Diocese of Huron as the rector of St. James, St. Marys, the position from which she is retiring.  She has served on the Postulancy Board, the Budget Sub-Committee, the Catechumenate Network, as Co-Chair of the Companion Diocese Relationship Committee, on Diocesan council and as the Regional Dean of Huron/Perth.

Jenny will be honoured with the other retirees at Synod.

Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Venerable Willi Kammerer to retire effective December 31, 2022.

Archdeacon Willi was ordained a deacon in May 2001 and a priest in May 2002.  He has served the parishes of St. John’s, Strathroy with St. Ann’s Adelaide and St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London from which he is retiring. Archdeacon Willi also served as the Director of Human Resources for the Diocese of Huron and as the Archdeacon of Middlesex.

He was a member of the Postulancy Board, the Compensation Sub-Committee, the Human Resources Committee, the Safe Church Committee, Diocesan Council, the Bishop’s Clergy Conference Planning Committee, the Corporation of Huron University College, the Diocesan Executive Staff, the Archives Committee, the Health and Safety Committee, the Bishop Luxton Memorial Scholarship Committee and the McConnell Trust Fund Committee, the Committee on Assistance to Theological Students, the Council of Advice, the Bishop’s Group, the Mutual Ministry Committee and the Committee on the Revision of Constitution and Canons as well as chairing the Deacons’ Board. He served as the Regional Dean of Medway, was named Canon Register in February 2008 and in October 2009 was titled the Archdeacon of the Thames Valley.

Archdeacon Willi will be honoured with the other retirees at Synod.

RESIGNATIONS

Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Reverend CJ Adams to conclude her ministry as the rector of Holy Trinity-St. Paul’s, Chatham and as the Regional Dean of Kent effective November 1, 2022 due to health concerns.  CJ remains a priest in good standing.

Bishop Townshend has accepted the resignation of the Reverend Matthew Martin as Associate Priest and Director of Community Engagement at St. Aidan’s, London effective December 31, 2022.  Matt has accepted the position of Chaplain of Huron University College.

Matt will continue his role as the Director of Mission at Luke's Place with responsibility for St. Luke’s Worshipping Community.
